At 67,100 acres, Wheeler lake is the largest of the TVA's three reservoirs in North Alabama and makes available a variety of water recreational opportunities including boating, skiing ans swimming.
Wheeler is also renowned as being one of the most challenging, and rewarding, fishing impoundments in the south. It presents a mixture of deep drop offs and shallow banks, narrow tributtaries and wide open spaces; steep bluffs, rocky points, gravel flats, and flooded timbers. Excellent game fishing can
be had for largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass, crappie, channel catfish and freshwater drum.
